KENOSHA -- Engine Works, a new co-working and collaboration space, is opening inside the Kenosha Innovation Center.
It is located on the second floor of the KIC, 5522 26th Ave, and features office space, desks, Wi-Fi, and other amenities to serve as a workshop for ideas.
Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood officials announced the new site was designed to reflect Kenosha’s industrial legacy.
The KIN indicated the name Engine Works is a deliberate nod to Kenosha’s industrial roots, from the world’s largest bicycle factory to decades of automotive manufacturing. For generations, the site of the KIN was a place where things were made, systems were refined and innovation powered livelihoods.
“Engine Works honors that legacy,” said Kelly Armstrong, President of the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood. “Instead of manufacturing products, today we’re helping manufacture opportunity, for people, businesses, and the regional ecosystem.”
Once the largest employer in Wisconsin, the historic American Motors Corp. campus is now fueling a new generation of innovation.
“Kenosha’s industrial legacy built a generation of opportunity, and today that same spirit is driving a new era of innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Armstrong.\
Engine Works is part of the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood’s effort to create an accessible front door to the region’s innovation ecosystem, connecting founders, small businesses, and companies exploring Kenosha with the people and ideas shaping the future of Kenosha, she said.
The KIN offers Engine Works memberships for use of the space at various levels, ranging from a day pass to monthly subscriptions.
All plans include access to a kitchenette with a refrigerator and microwave, printer access, complimentary coffee and tea, privacy booths for calls or meetings, and opportunities to connect and collaborate with other professionals. For more information, visit www.innovateKIN.org/engineworks.
